Team Blue Goes For Third Straight Win In EWSHL Week 6

Team Blue Goes For Third Straight Win In EWSHL Week 6
July 30, 2020

Both Team Red (2-2-1) and Team Blue (3-2-0) have found a way to win back-to-back games this summer. Neither has found a way to win three straight, however. Team Blue gets their chance to do that tonight in Week 6 of the EWSHL. With just two games remaining, including tonight, a Team Blue victory would clinch a winning record this summer.

Team Blue got their first shutout of the summer last Thursday night. Maureen Murphy scored 18 seconds into the tilt, the fastest goal in league history, to give the team a lead it would not lose. Kassidy Sauve and Dana DeMartino combined for a shutout, while Erin Kickham (PPG) and Emily Field each lit the lamp to solidifying the 3-0 victory. For Field, it was her fourth goal and sixth point of the summer.

Her six points are good for the most in the entire league. Her four goals are tied with Alex Carpenter for the league lead.

Lineup News and Notes:

Team Blue: Erin Kickham, who filled in on Team Blue and scored on the powerplay last week, is returning to Team Red for Week 6. Team Blue is getting reinforcements back, resulting in the move. Paige Voight and Kate Annese, who both missed Week 5, are back in the Team Blue lineup tonight. Sammy Davis, who missed the last two weeks, is also back in the lineup for Team Blue.

Team Blue and EWSHL leading scorer Emily Field (personal) is out for Week 6. She is expected to return for the EWSHL’s season finale next Thursday night.

Lindsey Dumond returns after a week out, while Laura Lundblad (Quinnipiac) makes her EWSHL debut in place of Shannon Griffin.

Megan Myers, meanwhile, joins Team Blue after spending the season on Team Red. She and Makenna Newkirk have traded spots.

Defensively, Kim Tiberi and Maddie Truax return to the Team Blue lineup. Truax has missed the last two weeks, while Tiberi was not available last Thursday.

Aerin Frankel makes her debut in goal, while Jetta Rackleff plays her third game of the summer.

Team Red: Erica D’Errico returns from a one week absence up front, while Kickham returns from a week with Team Blue. Caty Flagg makes her second appearance of the summer in goal, replacing Jessica Strack behind Katie Burt.

Makenna Newkirk comes to Team Red in exchange for Megan Myers.

Other than that, there are no changes to the Team Red lineup.
